"Why have a therapy dog at school?" Therapy dogs can help students and staff in many ways. Developing social skills, teaching empathy and proper interpersonal skills, and developing skills to pick up social cues required for human relationships are just a few. Another benefit is that they often provide comfort when children or staff are anxious, don't feel well, and helping them to feel and stay calm. Therapy dogs are trained and certified to provide support and comfort. They rely on their social instincts and skills to offer socio-emotional, cognitive, and health benefits to the people they spend time with.
