Algebra 2 students learned how RADAR works. RADAR works with the Cosine Effect which ties directly into their trigonometry unit. Thanks to Lt. USD 243 Lebo-Waverly Schools would like to welcome Misty Demeter as the Kindergarten teacher at Waverly Elementary School for 2023-24. Misty has been the 3rd grade teacher this year. She has enjoyed spending her first year of teaching in the 3rd grade. Misty says she has learned a lot and had a amazing time getting to know all of the students, staff and the families here at Waverly. Misty is very excited to move to kindergarten next year, as she has 15 years of experience in the preschool setting. Today 5 WHS students competed at Regional Solo/Ensemble Contest at Independence Community College! Rose, Zoe, Sydnie, Gracie and Samantha all performed solos they had been practicing for months! The high school band traveled to the Friends University Festival of Bands today! They performed our state large group pieces for clinician Eric Stambaugh, received some tips and perspectives on how to spend the next three weeks prepping for state, and got to listen to some other bands! Peyton has been nominated for Door of Distinction. Peyton was caught comforting a 4th grade student at recess. The student was a little upset about losing a basketball game, and Peyton sat down next to them and talked with them to help them feel better.

Gavin is being recognized for Door of Distinction. Gavin was walking down the hallway, when 4th grade student was trying to get stickers off of his locker. The other student was struggling. Gavin stopped what he was doing to assist the student. Just one of the many kind gestures and examples of how Gavin is “being the light.”
