Monday night, the USD 243 Board of Education approved the budget for the 2026-2027 school year.

Part of that process includes looking at state assessment scores as we prepare the budget and set goals for the year ahead. We are proud of the efforts being made in our schools across all areas tested, with many of our results outpacing the state average.

There is always room to grow, and we will continue working to improve instruction and student outcomes each year. We are proud of the progress being made and look forward to building on it.

📣 Community Input for Strategic Planning

We are beginning the next phase of our strategic planning process, and an important part of that work is hearing from the people who know and care about our schools and communities. 🏫

📅 On September 16th in Waverly and September 23rd in Lebo, we are bringing together staff, parents, community members, and board members for strategic planning sessions focused on the future of USD 243. We’ll talk about what is working well, where we have opportunities to grow, and what we want our district to look like in the years ahead. Both meetings will begin at 5:30pm. ⏰

🎯 The goal is to develop a clear direction for our district—one that reflects what our communities value and gives us a roadmap for the decisions we make moving forward. The feedback gathered during these sessions will help guide the Board of Education as it establishes the district's mission, vision, goals, and priorities.

🤝 We want a variety of voices at the table. Whether you have students in our schools, work in the district, or simply care about the future of USD 243, your perspective is an important part of the process.

📝 If you would like to be part of the conversation, please fill out the form below to let us know you plan to attend.

Dear USD 243 Families,

We are monitoring the weather forecast for today, April 17. Current information shows a potential for severe weather in our area between 3:00–4:00 PM.

We will continue to track conditions throughout the day. If you prefer to pick up your student early, you’re welcome to do so using your building’s normal check-out procedures.

At this time, we do not anticipate an early release, but that could change depending on how conditions develop over the coming hours. Also, we recommend having a backup plan in place this afternoon in case schedules change.

Any updates, including changes to after-school activities, will be shared through our usual communication channels.

We will continue to review conditions and make decisions based on student and staff safety. Thank you for your cooperation.
