Crosswinds is hosting an online mask contest for a cash prize of $100 in an effort to encourage individuals to wear their mask to reduce the lasting effects of mental health problems. The longer the pandemic lasts, the more impact we know there will be related to our mental health. The contest lasts through January 22nd. See image for instructions.
Crosswinds is also offering a Community Support Online Group for those that are experiencing mental health problems related to COVID. This will be offered online every Thursday from 5:30-6:30 and is open to anyone who is struggling with their mental health in response to COVID. It’s a community support group for people to talk about what they are experiencing and share how they are coping. We will focus on self care, networking, recognizing signs and symptoms and identifying resources. There is no cost to attend and confidentiality and respect will be emphasized. January is School Board Appreciation Month! This year has been an especially challenging year for our USD 243 Lebo-Waverly School Board Members as they have had to make many decisions on what is best for the safety of our students and staff. Join us in thanking our school board members this month!

Dear Parents/Guardians of USD 243 students,
We would like to welcome all families back for the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Classes will resume on January 4, 2021 as regularly scheduled. As with the first semester, it is our desire to be able to offer in-class instruction for the entire school year. This can be accomplished if everyone is actively participating in COVID-19 mitigation protocols (face masks, social distancing, washing hands, etc.).
As a reminder: Keep your child home if he/she is sick (running a fever, cough, or other COVID related symptoms.). Please communicate with the school or your healthcare provider if you have questions about a sick child. If your child has recently (during the break) tested positive for COVID-19 or has been exposed to a positive case, please contact the school to determine a return to school date.
All students are required to return to face-to-face instruction this semester unless they are medically compromised and USD 243 administration has approved your child for continued Remote Learning.
We would like to thank everyone for your cooperation, flexibility, and understanding as we continue to navigate through this pandemic.
Again, it is our goal to be in school and remain in school. With everyone’s help and support, we feel this goal can be accomplished.

Greetings, Waverly Families:
Thank you for your continued support of our students, our staff, and our school community during this fall semester. We hope this message finds you doing well and we wanted to take a moment to reiterate our collective “Thank You!” for everything you have done, are doing, and will continue to do to help our students and our school.
Before we begin the upcoming Winter Break, we wanted to take a moment to share the following information and reminders:
Colder weather, more time inside, and the onset of cold and flu season are upon us. The CDC has provided guidance for winter holidays, which include continuing to practice social distancing (at least 6 feet), frequent handwashing, avoiding large gatherings, and wearing a mask. There is a graphic below that shares these recommendations.
If you or your family members do not feel well at any time over the break, we have included a graphic that shares which symptoms are most commonly associated with the cold, the flu, and COVID-19. Also, please keep your child’s school notified of any COVID-19 exposures or test results of your child or close family members.
If anyone you know is interested in serving as a substitute teacher in our school during the spring semester, please encourage them to look up licensure information on the KSDE website to review the qualifying criteria provided by the Kansas State Department of Education. If you have any questions, please let me know.
We will miss seeing and working with our students during this upcoming break. Stay warm, stay safe, and please know how much we appreciate everything that you are doing to focus on the health and success of our students, staff, and community!

The Kansas State High School Activities Association Board of Directors voted Tuesday, December 8, to allow for up to two parents/guardians per participant families as allowed by local board of education or health department restrictions. USD 243 Lebo-Waverly will comply with this directive. No “substitutes” can be used for a parent/guardian if they are unable to attend a contest.
All spectators must be masked and worn correctly the entire time in the facility, even if they are socially distanced.
Please remember, the reason restricted attendance is necessary is to minimize exposure opportunities and support school and community health.
Parents/guardians are there to support their child while in competition. We are asking all parents/guardians to arrive at the estimated time of your child’s game and leave shortly after the game is completed.
There will be no tickets given to the athletes and instead a pass list will be provided. ID’s matt be required at away contests.
You are invited to "attend" the 5th Grade Band Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 15th at 8:30am. The concert will be livestreamed on the Waverly Schools Facebook page and also recorded and uploaded to the school website for viewing at any time. Unfortunately, we cannot have an outside audience at this time. Thank you for your understanding and support!
Just a reminder for Waverly 6-8th grade parents - if you are interested in the parent meeting for the 2022 trip to Washington D.C., it is TONIGHT at 6 PM!
