WGS students who qualified for the February academic improvement party got to enjoy some extra time outside in the sunshine, a sweet treat, and fresh air! Students were playing football, swinging, on the play equipment, and having a dance party!

Door of Distinction: This student is being nominated for her willingness and patience while helping fellow classmates. In math class this student has been a great help to some of her peers that were struggling on their math assignments. She has been very patient and understanding with them as they work through the problem together. Way to be a helpful classmate Harper! Keep up the good work!

Door of Distinction: This student is nominated because since the first day of school, he has shown true and consistent leadership in the classroom! Each month, we focus on a specific character trait in the classroom, and the character trait for February was perseverance. He not only shows perseverance in his overall behavior, but he makes sure to encourage his classmates to persevere as well, especially when we are working on a very tricky skill! OFG Financial Services, Security Benefit and the KNEA sponsor a grant program for Kansas Educators. It is a way to recognize and award educators for all they do. It is also a way for these firms to say thank you, they appreciate you! Over 1,500 people apply each year for the grants, and only 100 get awarded a $100 grant. Today, we are pleased to announce that Mrs. Bathory has been selected as one of the award recipients. Please join us in congratulating her!

WGS PTO is holding another Kiss the Goat Fundraiser! Students can bring spare change to place in their favorite teacher's jar from March 4th - March 21st. The "winning" teacher will kiss a goat on Friday, March 22nd at 2:30.
Read Across America Day is March 2nd! WGS will celebrate next week with themed days to celebrate how awesome reading is!

After looking at a math assignment and realizing it might be difficult, he had a growth mindset and decided that this might be hard, but he could do it! Waverly hosted the LCL JH Quiz Bowl Meet at Waverly today. Our team earned 2nd place medals. This was a great way to end our season!
Waverly students of all ages learned about a variety of musicians and types of instruments this afternoon during WHS's Music Museum. Come out tonight, from 6:30p-8p, and enjoy special presentations featuring information on instruments, musicians, music history, and more!

What a morning! Our WHS FBLA leaders had the awesome opportunity to meet with WHS alum Olivia Mitchell this morning via FaceTime. Olivia is a 2020 graduate of WHS. She is currently a senior at Pittsburg State University where she serves as the PSU Collegiate FBLA President.
Tomorrow is the big night!
The Waverly Music Museum will be open from 6:30-8 PM! There will be 2 groups of students giving presentations; one at 6:30 and one at 7:30. Please feel free to come and go at any time, and visit all the "exhibits"! Thank you for supporting WJH/HS Band!
