In conjunction with Red Ribbon Week, October 25-29- the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States, Lebo Elementary School completed their 3rd annual food drive. The food drive is a week-long class competition for staff and students that includes a pizza party for the class who donates the most items. All items are donated to the local food pantry in Lebo. This year, 1,847 non-perishable food items and a variety of hygiene items were collected and donated. 🖤❤️

Leading the class competition and winners of the pizza party was Lebo's 5th grade class. 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Love-Davies, made the statement, "It's wonderful to see the students get so excited about trying to collect the most food items for an awesome cause that helps so many people in and around our community. The ripple effect of generosity that the school food drive generates is simply outstanding!" One fifth grade student, Maggie Shoemaker, shared, "I like helping people and giving. Some kids don't have food at home. And it was fun because if you brought the most items, you got pizza!" Mrs. Love-Davies and her fifth grade students brought in a total of 462 items throughout the week. "I just wanted to bring as many cans as possible. I wanted to make people happy and make their lives better," said Jett Edwards, fifth grade student. Mrs. Thomas, Student Support Specialist at Lebo Elementary, is more than impressed with the excitement behind the food drive. "It's encouraging to see our young students stepping up to serve their community. The entire Lebo Elementary School and families should be proud of their efforts," said Thomas. Staff and students are already looking forward to next year's food drive.
