Review of Reopening Plan tonight @ 7:00 Livestreamed on the Lebo Schools facebook page!
Some of the Lebo pocket athletic schedules that were handed out on Friday have the wrong HS volleyball schedule on it. If you have the schedule that has Lebo playing on Sept. 3 at MDCV you have the wrong schedule. The ones that have Lebo playing Sept. 3 at Mission Valley you have the correct one. New schedules are being printed and will be handed out. Sorry for the confusion.

Dear USD 243 Families, I would like to welcome everyone back for the 2020-21 school year. Our sincere hope is to provide an educational experience that is as close to normal as possible for you and your family. The best way I can think of to keep school close to normal is to make individual choices that help mitigate the spread of the Covid-19 virus. USD 243 and Coffey County have developed many plans, procedures, and policies to best protect ourselves and others around us. Most, if not all, of the planning documents can be found on the District and School Website. Our leaders have tried to anticipate as many scenarios as possible that might be cause for concern to our students, staff, and families. School will definitely look and feel different. In order to keep our schools open and to keep each other as safe as possible, we feel these procedures are extremely important. Some people may not agree with all of the requirements that have been developed. These procedures are necessary if schools are to open and to continue to operate as normally as possible. Please try to be flexible and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters. Most people agree that children need to return to school. Our hope is that these special considerations are not long-term. Where things go from here is up to all of us. Please keep your child home if they are sick with a Fever, Cough, etc. Communicate with the School or your health care provider if you have questions about an ill child. We do have some essential guidance and protocols available on USD243KS.org The school district has adopted several safety measures that are recommended by the Coffey County Health Department, Kansas Health Department, as well as, the CDC. Safety Measures include but are not limited to: wearing face masks indoors while at school, social distancing greater than 6 feet, temperature screenings of students and staff, better air filtration and circulation, and many more measures that are too numerous to mention. Once again, it is our goal to be in school in person as normal as possible. We can do this together. We need everyone’s support. Cooperation is critical. If you have any questions please contact your child’s school attendance center. Sincerely, Corey Reese Corey Reese, Superintendent Lebo-Waverly USD 243

Don't have an "Access Code"? Si no puede ver este articulo en Español, puede cambiar el idioma en la esquina inferior derecha. Access codes are used to link a student to his/her re-enrollment record. Most schools will "claim" this code on behalf of parents to save them time. If your school did not send you an "Access Code" by email/text, then you most likely don't need one. You simply need to login to your account and complete the forms. If you don't have an access code but it's time to Re-Enroll your student, here's what you can do: 1. Login to your account. On the Student Dashboard look for the green Re-enroll button under the Actions section (on devices with a small screen or on a mobile device you may have to scroll to the right). If you see the button, you are in the correct account. Click Re-Enroll to complete your student's forms. Do NOT click the "Add returning Student" button as you will be prompted to enter an access code. 2. If you don't see the student's name and Re-enroll button under the Student Dashboard then you are in the wrong account. Please log out and contact your school for the correct username. 3. If you did receive an access code, check out our guide here on Re-Enrolling with an access code.
Any families that want to apply for the free and reduced meal plan will need to fill out a paper form. The forms are available in the High School office. The office hours are 7:30 am. to 4 pm.

Lebo-Waverly Students, Parents, Patrons, and Families, A lot has happened in the days since the special Board Meeting on July 27th in regards to reopening the schools. We appreciated the feedback from the parents and the support provided by the Board of Education. Our goal is to provide the best learning environment for our students and to accommodate your concerns throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The administrative teams have been developing a plan for the district that will be presented at the August 10th board meeting. However, we realize that parents, guardians and students are wanting information. The following information reflects only a small portion of the document. School Start Date: August 27, 2020 Learning Options: USD 243 will offer on-site, “traditional”, classroom instruction. Remote learning (virtual learning) using Google Classroom The option chosen by the family will be selected for the entire first semester of school with the requirements of 360 minutes(6.5 hours) of daily academic learning. If school buildings are completely shut down, due to the virus spreading, ALL education will become remote learning. All grade levels will use the Google Classroom platform for providing instruction. Safety Measures: All staff and students will have their temperature taken upon entry to the buildings. If a student or staff member is running a temperature over 100 degrees they will not be allowed to attend school. Hand sanitizers are located in each classroom and throughout the buildings. Hourly hand washing will take place. Additional bottle filling stations have been installed in the district buildings. All water fountains will be disconnected. Please supply a water bottle with a secure lid for the school year. Students and staff will wear masks at school. Children with medical issues and/or special needs will be accommodated. Students under 5 year of age will not need to wear a mask. Teacher Education: August 10th will be the first day of teacher in-service instruction and planning. Some topics to be covered include: social/emotional needs of students and staff; reopening classrooms after the long shut down; disinfecting classrooms; Google Classroom; teaching in a remote learning environment; and many more. Our district is concerned for our students, parents, families, and staff at this time. We are in the middle of a pandemic that hasn’t been seen for a very long time. Paying attention to guidelines set by the state and local health department and data trends will be our focus for the upcoming months of school. We know the success of our students depends on a productive partnership between the district, our families and the community. Your continued support will ensure our students receive the best education we can provide them, regardless of these circumstances. Respectfully, District Leadership Team Corey Reese, Duane Ford, Susan Wildeman, Libby Self, and Bethany Thomas

ECKAN Head Start provides FREE early childhood development services to families who qualify. Services vary in each county and community, based upon the needs identified through a community assessment process. Families can sign up for the following service options: Home-Based 90-minute, weekly home visits for families with children ages prenatal to 5 years. Head Start focuses on the development of the “whole” child and family. This means, we help families explore children’s overall health, mental health, social-emotional, and physical well-being as well as focusing on the typical intellectual development of children, including children with disabilities. Head Start believes parents are their child’s first and most important teacher. Therefore, we support parents to better understand early childhood development as well as support them to assess and set goals to reach their dreams for life-long outcomes and success. Research has proven children and families who attended Head Start were much more likely to become highly engaged and productive citizens as adults. ECKAN believes most people are doing the very best they know how to do. The question is, how do we begin to know those things unknown to us? Head Start offers intentional support to those who open their minds to ask, wonder, and learn. Go to http://www.eckan.org/headstart/ to learn what services are provided in each area. USD 243 Lebo-Waverly Thank you to everyone for your patience as we deal with our building closure. This has been a difficult situation for everyone involved in education. There is no place we would rather be than in our buildings with our students. The USD 243 Administrative team met today to begin working on our Continuous Learning Plan. Several things came from this video meeting: There will be NO face-to-face contact between staff and students! Starting Monday, the following teams will meet to continue developing the District CLP: Daycare - 2nd Grades 3rd - 5th Grades 6th - 8th Grades 9th - 11th Grades 12th Graders Each team will consist of a district administrator and all teachers in the listed grade levels We are planning on providing educational services starting Monday March 30th. We will be meeting with our teachers in small groups on Monday to discuss what this plan will look like. You can expect further updates next week. We have had some questions pertaining to personal items left at school. We will be putting together a plan to be able to get these items back to students as quickly as possible. More information will be available next week. More information regarding the Continuous Learning Plan will be announced as soon as possible. Once again, thank you for your patience in these difficult times. If you have questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact your building administrator! We are all in this together!
Thursday the continuity commission will release guidance to schools regarding continuing to educate and how to work with our families. Our administrators will meet online Friday to continue hatching a plan. Keep in mind...Safety first! Do not put yourself in proximity of other people. No face to face. No personal contact. Stay away from other people. This is for your safety, as well as, their safety. Learning to read and write is secondary, at this time, to your health and the health and safety of others. Our #1 charge is to provide a safe environment for students and staff. Right now that means stay away from other people as much as possible. Please do not do anything to cause people to come near you or come near each other. We will, in time, get processes in place for education and meals. For now, be patient! Sincerely, Corey Reese, Superintendent Lebo Waverly USD 243

There is a phrase called "Flattening the Curve". A link to a video that explains the concept is posted below. We need everyone to self isolate as much as you can! We need to take universal precautions such as hygiene and hand-washing. Encourage everyone to keep their kids as isolated as possible. Stay away from places people gather. This is kind of like a full court press, everyone has to be committed to slowing this disease down! If 4 out 5 people cooperate, it will be layups for this virus. We need everyone to self social isolate in order to slow this thing down. https://youtu.be/QIuzLf9f5WI
Everyone, Randy Watson, Commissioner of Education, has recommended closure of schools that are coming off spring break this week. The Governor supports this recommendation. I have meetings tomorrow with County Emergency, Health, and School Leaders. I will let you know what comes from this meeting. Moving forward all district activities are cancelled including sports practice. There will be no sports or activity practice this week. There is a phrase called "Flattening the Curve". I will send you a video that explains the concept. We need everyone to self isolate as much as you can. We need to take universal precautions such as hygiene and hand washing. Encourage everyone to keep their kids as isolated as possible. Stay away from places people gather. This is kind of like a full court press, everybody has to be committed to slowing this disease down. If 4 out 5 people cooperate, It will be layups for this virus. We need everybody to self social isolate in order to slow this thing down. We are on spring break but need to have the mindset that we are closed due to a very fast moving and infectious illness. Sincerely, -- Corey Reese, Superintendent Lebo Waverly USD 243
