Waverly Elementary School Re-Opening Practices Beginning 08/27/2020
While we are trying to keep many things as close to "normal" as possible, many things will be different when students return on Thursday.
Students NOT eating breakfast should not arrive before 7:50 a.m. (if possible). Following temperature and symptom checks, they will report to the gym and find their assigned spot in the gym.
The front doors will be unlocked at approx. 7:30 a.m.
Students will line up on the orange paw prints on the sidewalk while awaiting entry. A mask is required, as is social distancing.
An adult may wait with each student. A mask is required, as is social distancing.
Adults entering the building, with students, will be limited to special considerations.
Temperature and symptom checks will be conducted before entering the building.
After entry, students will take their belongings with them to the gym and place them on their assigned spot on the gym floor, then report to the breakfast line.
During meals, students will sit in assigned places, distanced, all facing one direction.
Meals will be pre-plated or filled by kitchen staff, to limit student time in line.
After eating, students will be expected to return to wearing their mask and wait to be released to discard their food at the designated area.
Kindergarten will collect their belongings (after breakfast) then report back to their classroom after eating meals. Everyone else will sit on their assigned spot in the gym and wait to be released to their teacher.
Morning announcements will be read to students, in the gym at 7:55 a.m.
Students will be dismissed to go to their classrooms in grade order, beginning with 5th grade. Other grades will follow.
Preschool students (p.m. only) will have temperature and symptom checks upon arrival.
All students and staff will have temperature and symptom checks before leaving the gym after lunch.
Dismissal- Waverly administration asks that picking up students please practice social distancing (6 ft.+ distance) and wear a mask, if waiting outside for your child to be released.
Bus students will be dismissed to the gym at 3:10 p.m., by hallways in the following order: K/1st, PreK, 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th.
Preschool will release at 3:15 p.m. Mrs. Jones will walk students to the front entry and release students outside the front doors to their parent/guardian.
Walkers and Parent Picked-Up students will be released by hallways, spaced a couple minutes apart to try to decrease congestion following this schedule:
3:15 p.m.- 5th- Walkers without siblings, will be released out the west door, on the 4th/5th grade wing. Walkers with siblings will exit through the front main entry of the building and wait for siblings outside. Parent Picked-Up ONLY with no siblings younger than 4th grade can pick up in the north gravel parking lot. Please drive through, heading west- toward Fisher Street.
3:17 p.m.- 4th- Walkers without siblings, will be released out the west door, on the 4th/5th grade wing. Walkers with siblings will exit through the front main entry of the building.and wait for siblings outside. 3:19 p.m.- 3rd- Walkers and Parent Picked- Up will be released out the front entry, by staff.
3:21 p.m.- 2nd- Walkers and Parent Picked- Up will be released out the front entry by staff.
3:23 p.m.- 1st- Walkers and Parent Picked- Up will be released out the front entry by staff.
3:25 p.m.-Kindergarten- Walkers and Parent Picked- Up will be walked out the front entry by staff.
