Band students and families:

✍🏼As you’re getting prepared to return to band this year, here’s some supplies you might want to look into. All the music-specific supplies can usually be found at a local music store or online.

🎷If you don’t own your instrument, Waverly needs you to look into purchasing or renting your own! Our school is officially OUT of instruments to lend to first-year students until some existing players make the leap to purchase their own! If your band student is loving band (who doesn’t?) and planning to continue playing, an investment of a new instrument pays off in dividends over the years!

📖 6th grade band students should start locating their band book from last year, or make plans to replace it! It was black and blue, and called “Measures of Success.”

⚡️A cleaning swab for all woodwind instruments is a necessity. I can help advise if you’re not sure what to get. I have had some for purchase through the school in the past, but am out temporarily.

🍂 Extra reeds for clarinet and saxophone players.

✏️ A pencil dedicated to band! We won’t have our community pencil cup this year in the band room, so a pencil students can keep in their case, instrument locker, or folder would be best!

🖥If we should return to remote learning, here’s some supplies that band students would benefit from having at home:

🎼 A music stand - this can be as simple as a wire stand or as fancy as a regular stand like we have at school! Having a real stand helps with posture (and not having to find something to prop your music on)!

🎧 Headphones - wired headphones cause less lag between the computer and what you’re hearing, but can be tricky to play with certain instruments. These will be a necessity for any recording projects we may do down the road.

⏱Metronome (or a metronome app). There are plenty of free metronome apps for phones and tablets, you can purchase a metronome as a standalone item if you don’t have a device to run it on, or there are even online metronomes you can play straight through the computer.

💧Valve oil or slide oil for brass instruments - I have some at school for students (at no cost!) but they may want their own (or a different brand!).

School starts this week! Can't wait to make music with you again!
