Each year, Emporia State University invites girls in their junior year to attend the Sonia Kovalevsky Mathematics Day.  This event is sponsored by Wolf Creek and was held on Thursday, March 5th.  Sonia is the first recognized female with a Ph. D. to make significant contributions to the field of mathematics.  While at this celebration, students receive a certificate of recognition for excelling in their mathematics classroom, attend presentations and workshops led by women in math-driven careers, and are encouraged to explore and pursue the field of mathematics in their future studies.  This year, the students in attendance from Waverly High School were Rachel Stukey, Savannah Rangel, Kaylynn Vogts, and Macy Fairchild.  The attached pictures are of the girls participating in the math trivia workshop.
