ACT News

Find out if your prospective school is going to require the traditional ACT or the ACT with Writing. You can check at www.actstudent.org; click on “Writing Test Option” on the left-hand side, then on “Search Writing Test Requirements by College”. You can look up a college by name or by state. Besides checking the web site, it might be a good idea to call the college’s Office of Admissions to find out if they require the writing test. Schools have to keep ACT updated for this part of the web site to be accurate.

Registration packets are available in the Guidance Office. You can also register online at www.actstudent.org(ACT) You will have to pay by credit card if registering online. Registering online is the preferred method for the test.

If you qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, see me for a fee waiver which would allow you to take the exam for free! You can take the ACT for free TWICE while you are a junior/senior. You can take the SAT for free TWICE as a junior/senior. Also, I have a form you can submit to colleges/universities asking them to waive the application fee.

If you have an IEP or 504 Plan that allows for extended time for testing, let me know well in advance of the registration deadlines! We can complete the paperwork for you to apply to take the ACT or SAT with extended time. ACT or SAT will make the final decision as to whether it will be allowed!

The ACT is administered in September, October, December, February, April, and June. (BHS will offer all test dates and LHS will offer December and April testing dates)
ACT without writing — $46.00 ACT with writing—$62.50

The SAT is administered in October, November, December, January, March, May, and June. Information regarding the SAT and/or registering for it can be found at www.collegeboard.com.

TAKE NOTE: If you are mailing in your registration, you must do so early enough that ACT receives it by the deadline, or it will be considered late!!!!!!!! This is a change from past practice!!! It is preferred that you register online!

Registration packets are available in the Guidance Office or register online at www.actstudent.org.
